Born in Seoul, she graduated in singing at the Seokyeog University of Seoul. She then moved to Italy to complete her studies and graduated from the “Arrigo Boito” Conservatory in Parma and at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena. She also graduated with highest grades at the Istituto Musicale “Vecchi-Tonelli” in Modena under the guidance of soprano Raina Kabaiwanska.
She has won many international competitions such as: “City of Magenta”, “City of Brescia”, “Ishmael Voltolini”, “The City Sonora”, “Magda Olivero,” “Peter Mongini” and “Maria Malibran”.
She has made her debut in: La Bohème (Musetta) at Teatro Regio in Parma; Il Trovatore (Leonora) in concert form for Sarzana Opera Festival, directed by Alex Ollè at the Rome Opera, in Reggio Emilia, Modena and Pisa; Cosi fan tutte (Fiordiligi) in Cyprus; Turandot (Liù); Madama Butterfly (Cio-cio-san) for Teatro Nuovo in Salsomaggiore, Teatro Cagnoni Vigevano, Teatro Verdi in Fiorenzuola, Teatro La Fenice in Venice; Macbeth (Lady Macbeth) at the Ravenna Festival, in Savonlinna and, conducted by Riccardo Muti, in Stockholm; Ernani (Elvira) in concert at the Salzburg Festival conducted by M° Muti; Giovanna d’Arco (Giovanna), directed by Peter Greenaway at the Verdi Festival in Parma; Attila (Odabella) at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, her debut in the title role of Verdi’s Aida at the Salzburg Festival under M° Muti.
She has worked with important conductors such as Riccardo Muti, Myung Whun Chung, Nicola Paszkoski, Ramon Tebar, Riccardo Frizza, Jader Bignamini and directors such as Cristina Muti, Alex Rigola, Peter Greenaway, Daniele Abbado, Alex Ollè.
Her intense concert career includes these engagements: the concert Pavarotti nel cuore which was held in Piazza Grande in Modena; Bel Canto for the Luciano Pavarotti Foundation; a concert with orchestra at the Verdi Festival in Parma for the presentation of some finalists of the 52nd Competition Voci Verdiane in Busseto; a concert for the celebration Rolando Panerai’s 90th birthday at the Teatro Goldoni in Florence organized by Teatro Comunale in Florence; a concert with Gregory Kunde at the Teatro Regio di Parma.
Among her future engagements: La Bohéme under Myung-Whun Chung and Madama Butterfly at La Fenice in Venice; La Bataglia di Legnano (Lida) and Macbeth under Riccardo Muti in Florence; La Bohéme (Mimì) at the Rome Opera; Giuseppe Verdi’s Messa da Requiem in Baden-Baden, Chicago and in Japan with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra under M° Muti.
