Biography

Born in Atlanta, she studies at the Westmister Choir College in Princeton; she then continues her studies with John Bullock and Regina Resnik.

In 2002 she received the prestigeous Ordre des Arts e des Lettres from the French government and in 2008 she won the Grammy Arward for best recording with Hänsel und Gretel. She recently published Una Voce, a book dedicated to her activity as a singing teacher.

She started a brillant career from her debut in Clemenza di Tito (Sesto) at the Opéra de Nice; since then she performed in all the major Opera Houses throughout the world in a wide repertoire ranging from baroque to belcanto up to always more drammatic roles of 20th Century German and Slavic repertoire as well as contemporary music.

She recently starred in: Lulu (Geschwitz) at Covent Garden in London, Paris, Madrid, Amsterdam and at Teatro dell’Opera in Roma; Janacek‘s Jenufa (Kostelnicka) at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin and at New National Theatre in Tokyo; Grégoire Hetzel‘s The Fall of Fukuyama with Orchestre Philarmonique de Radio France; Offenbach‘s La Belle Hélène in Hamburg; Macbeth (Lady Macbeth) in Geneve, Bologna and Reggio Emilia; L’Incoronazione di Poppea (Ottavia) and Don Giovanni (Donna Elvira) at Theater an der Wien; her debut in Wozzeck (Marie) in Geneva; Weill‘s The Seven deadly sins at the Atlanta Opera.

She has worked with many of the world‘s most important Conductors such as: Jacobs, Marin, Rizzi, Lòpez Cobos, Runnicles, Sinopoli, Parry, Carella, Allemandi, Spinosi, Pappano, Zedda, Campanella, Harding, Muti, Sinopoli, Hengelbrock, Barenboim, Ozawa, Masur, Maazel, Bonynge.

She is also extremely active on the concert platforms across the world and, in 2009, she established, together with bass player Davide Vittone, the group Jennifer Larmore & OpusFive promoting a particular mix of chamer music for voice and string quintet.
